Well this past week was Thanksgiving and the egg bowl! I had a good time at my grandparents house, and ate too much. It was good to not have to worry about school for a change. Me and my uncle went on a 6 mile run on Wednesday for training for a half marathon that I am running on Jan. 9, the Mississippi Blues marathon. I got to see my cousin that has been in Spain for the past three years on Friday. I was weird that I hadn't seen him in a while and he hasn't changed a bit. I went to Starkville on Friday to get ready for the egg bowl. I tried to be as optimistic as possible before I got there but they had been playing good and we hadn't. Still I thought we were going to win, which I always think we are going to win. Well I was right!! We gave them a whopping. Dixon and Relf ran all over them in the second half and both had over a hundred yards. Final score 41-27, the golden egg is back in Starkville.
Now the Christmas season is in full swing. I love Christmas time, its just a happy, fun time of year. If I can just get through the next 3 weeks of school and get my act together at stuff other than school, I will be happy.

the balance

As I first start this blog, I have to tell how I got this name. Well I'm sure you have heard the expression, "as hard as pulling teeth." Well this applies to a lot of my life right now. First, Im in dental school so it literally applies to pulling teeth. Second, it is a representation of how dental school is, you study all the time for a test but also you try to actually have a little bit of a social life. Its a balancing act that sometimes I like a little too much of the social aspect. Well I think you have to have fun so you don't go insane, which will happen after looking at biochem or phys for a week straight.
Finally, isn't going through life like pulling teeth? You try so hard at different aspects of your life; school, relationships, family, and sometimes it easy and the tooth comes right out, but other times you break the root off and you have to dig and strain to get the last bits of the root out. You keep digging though to get the last bits out because you know its worth it.

Well this past weekend I went up to Starkville. Not the greatest of weekends by any means. Sports wise it was terrible, basketball lost, football lost, and mississippi won. I made a couple of stupid choices that I have no idea why I did it! Its amazing how much you can hate yourself after things you do. However, I was able to see people that I care about and have a good time with them.
I then came back Sunday and studied the entire day. Literally from 2 to 11 I was in the same room and only left to walk to subway in the hospital. But you got to do what you have to do.

Until next time, Forever Maroon and White
